I have worked with children and families for over twenty years. My initial studies after secondary school led to me becoming an NNEB. I have since that time undertaken further studies in child development, evidence-based parenting interventions and counselling and psychotherapy at level 2 and 3 in counselling skills. I recently completed the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
Since qualifying as an NNEB, over many years I have worked in a number of child & family focused roles including with pre-school children supporting them in their development of their early academic, social and emotional learning, within schools and other early years establishments, I have also worked in child & adolescent mental health units, residential care homes for children, as an educational welfare officer and as part of an inclusions department aimed at preventing child exclusions by doing direct work with children and young people. I have also represented the local authority at exclusions meetings. I have also worked specifically delivering evidence-based parenting programmes for over 10 years and have been trained and accredited in a number of the most well respected and evidenced parenting interventions such as Triple P, Webster-Stratton Incredible Years and Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities. I am also an accredited peer coach and mentor-in-training in the incredible years programme and a supervisor for group facilitators who deliver these parenting programmes currently in Merton. I have also provided supervision and training to group facilitators in the London borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Southwark and Barking and Dagenham.
During my career I have also been involved in direct work with young children, school-aged children, teenagers and parents of children aged 0-18 and have developed some valuable skills and experience in terms of face to face work with children and their families.
