About Josh Landis

I'm a bodyworker and trainer who specializes in utilizing a strength-centered movement practice as a therapeutic modality. While healing is often the primary focus of the work I do, I also work with h...igh level athletes and those looking for more of an aesthetic transformation. The body, mind, and soul are all connected. If we are lacking in awareness, connection, and integration of any one of these, the others will be affected. If we neglect to take care of our bodies, our mental health and emotional well-being will be affected. Many times our inner emotional turmoil manifests as stuck energy in the body, and consequently impacts us in a variety of ways; pain, weakness, and a general disconnected-from-our-body feeling often result. In the same way, how we feel about our bodies, whether we are insecure about the way we look, or if we live in constant fear of pain or not being able to handle the tasks we subject it to, will often create strong emotional associations with our body-image. It can be hard to break the cycle. Our movement paints a picture of who we are. How we express ourselves through movement is a culmination of our past experiences, traumas, fears, and beliefs. If you hold shame or fear anywhere in your body, it will affect how you move. If you lack confidence about a certain area of your body, you will begin to disassociate from it. It can very often manifest as muscle tightness, joint immobility, pain, or weakness. Sometimes, movement can be the interface that finally allows us to break the cycle of self-limiting beliefs and fears we hold in our body. Knowing that the body and psyche are inseparable, we can start to heal and address pain at every level through an ongoing exploration of movement. show more
