I am a master crocheter who loves working with both kids and adults.
Absolute beginners will start with a sampler swatch to learn the basic stitches. Their first real project will be a scarf so people can develop comfort with their tension and personal style and begin producing consistent, even, stitches.
I can also teach advanced subjects like tunisian crochet, lacework, tapestry crochet, and amigurumi. These topics require some knowledge of crochet, though I am happy to take you from beginner to more advanced topics if you want to dedicate the time!
Training & Qualifications
I've been crocheting for over a decade and have in that time taught may people, including my own 6 year old, to crochet.
Availability & Preferences
I am usually free during the day when my kids are in school. I can be available via internet around 9pm EST after the kids are in bed too, but I can't go out at that time. I can usually take appointments at just about any time with enough notice to find a sitter, but I am not usually available for last minute gigs because of the constraints of single motherhood.
I volunteer at the school all the time. I do have a mohawk, but I promise I'm not sketchy; I'm the kind of punk that writes letters to legislators and wears political tshirts, not the kind of punk that steals and vandalizes (although I have been known to put wiggle eyes on things). I am happy to meet in a public place before exchanging services, or teach entirely in public places.

Your life will be better for having encounter Jamie. You'll find a witty polymath, eager teacher, and also someone who'll want to be your friend. I would go so far as to say Jamie is the kind of person who this site was made for.
About Jamie Paulson
I'm a poor single mom with a lot of skills that I can't get paid for in a normal way because I am disabled. You won't notice though. It's not (usually) a visible disability. I just have a really toug...h time existing in work environments for long periods of time. I don't have any problems actually doing work. It's frustrating! I fill my time with nerdy pursuits like gaming and tinkering with electronics like computers and microcontrollers. I also crochet and do origami because I have ADHD (not my disability-trust me, it's awesome) and I need something to do with my hands when I am sitting still. I'm not very good at being bored and my favorite hobby is learning new skills. I can do a lot of things, especially technical things. You wouldn't even believe my skillset if I listed it. I'm both a genius and a polymath. I'm not very humble, but I am kind and fun. I am very high energy and people are always telling me to calm down. I like goofy jokes and I am hella liberal. (I'm happy to fix conservative's computers as long as they take a break from telling me I don't deserve civil liberties because I'm queer for long enough for me to finish the repair.) I have a mohawk. I'm a law abiding citizen and active in my community, but your parents definitely wouldn't approve of me. show moreOpen to other proposals
