About James "Mitch" Thompson, CISSP
Over 35 years in the IT industry, beginning with 20 years as an Electronic Computers and Switching Systems Craftsman in the U.S. Air Force. In those 20 years, I had 5 assignments, each different from the other, in totally different environments, ranging from maintaining an aging telephone system (AutoVON) on a mountaintop in southern Italy, a technical training instructor role, working on the flightline (E-3 Sentry), and other fun places. Each with its own challenges and rewards.
After a career in the Air Force, I continued broadening my experiences by "hopping" from one government contract position to another. Again, each job a bit different, with its own opportunities and rewards. From maintaining a test and training environment for nascent Cyber Operations units to actually role-playing as a "bad guy" in Joint Information Operations training exercises, I've continued to try and learn as much as I can about all aspects of the tasks I performed, even if outside my comfort zone.
In my almost 5 years at AT&T, I've been fortunate enough to have been assigned to several contracts to support the DoD and AT&T. I hope to continue being able to broaden my knowledge, and thus contribute to AT&T's mission.
