Transitioning to home cooking
20
Last year I wrote a book called 'Pantry Basics (Amazon.) It was well received and I have since had many questions. Because I have always loved to cook, have had a restaurant, and even been a professional 'Foodie' I had not realized that there was such a big education gap with cooking.
My mother was of the generation that leapt to embrace TV dinners, Hamburger Helper and such, for releasing them from the necessity of preparing a meal, often after a long days work. I taught myself to cook, somewhat in self defense. A health setback ten years ago caused me to become more aggressive about the nutritional quality of my food. It was a long learning process, and resulted in 'Pantry Basics' to help make the transition. I now offer support, encouragement and even grocery store expeditions for people who want to learn to prepare clean, healthy, nutritious and affordable meals. From cast iron skillets to sous vide, I would love to be your guide!
Training & Qualifications
Healthy and happy and married to a heart attack survivor who is also thriving. If I hadn't made a conscious effort to study how our food system has changed, I doubt that would be true.
Availability & Preferences
I am retired, so very flexible hours, but by appointment.
