About Deanna Quilalang
If I were to contrive a position for myself, I figure it could be called "creative analyst". I imagine such a position would use my resourcefulness and inventiveness to create/improve/track designs o...f all kinds. I love to craft things both digitally and by hand and since I pay particular detail to things I create, I find myself always constructively critiquing most anything that I spend enough time observing and either rejoicing in its genius or wondering how to enhance its current state. Indeed one my pet peeves is finding something not given any time and effort when time was readily available and the effort was perfectly achievable. My foray into design was born out of necessity. I chuckle at my choice of words because the circumstances I speak of involve the birth of my second child. I delved into becoming a designer whole heartedly and gradually taught myself good design mostly through books since, at that time, the internet was still in its infancy (chuckling again) and did not house the information it currently does now. I understand that some might consider my claim as a graphic designer "illegitimate"; however, what I lack in formal training I counter with dogged tenacity, producing quality pragmatic and aesthetically pleasing designs, the two are sometimes created exclusive of each other. Fast forward 15+ years and here I am, quite a bit of knowledge amassed --- now I hold that title "designer" decisively, nary a thought of illegitimacy to weigh me down. show more
