Are you someone who loves the idea of being unplugged in nature but is intimidated by days/weeks in the woods? There is a thin line between discomforts. Too much gear and your back will never forgive you. Too little gear and you may be in for some long sleepless nights or scavenging the forest for twigs and berries (don't be like Christopher McCandless). The thin line walked is measured in ounces NOT ponds. In a 4-hour (6 mile) day hike I can show you what to pack and what to leave at home. I'll show you what props nature provides for added comforts and how to seek and create emergency shelter. I will start this off with a preliminary discussion on your abilities and what you hope to accomplish. Prior to the hike I will show you an extensive catalog of gear and what will be packed for a (simulated) week long trek versus what is left behind. I will go over critical orienteering skills and good practice measures for a responsible trek including how to maintain a "no trace" policy.
