About Connor White
Through five years of programming across several languages (including Java, C, C++, and C#, among others), I have developed my ability to quickly learn and apply new skills. For example, last year I designed and published several apps to the Google Play store. Similarly, this past month I created a training log application for triathletes using JavaScript. In both cases, I challenged myself to learn how to create a product using a language I had not previously studied. Through this challenge, the process of teaching myself new programming languages and new development platforms strengthened my ability to quickly learn and apply new skills.
Currently, I am working in a year-long internship through the University of Texas Department of Diversity and Community Engagement, where I have helped update and maintain the sixty-plus websites within the department. Additionally, this spring I will be serving as webmaster of the University of Texas Triathlon Team. Like my independent projects, this internship has pushed me to better understand software through self-directed learning by branching into web development.
