Feline Diabetes, FIV, & FeLV Advice
I'm here to help with any questions you may have about feline diabetes, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). Whether you have a cat that was recently diagnosed, are you're trying to help a stray, or if you are considering adopting a cat and you want to understand what these conditions mean and how they would effect your life, I can help you. Or maybe you're just curious and want to have knowledge of these conditions.
I can exlain:
- what each condition means biologically
- how a cat gets it
- how it is diagnosed
- whether or not it is contagious and in what ways
- how it effects the cat's quality of life and life expectancy
- treatment options
And perhaps most importantly for some, I can offer moral support, personal advice, and empathy to those faced with caring for a cat with any of these conditions. It can be overwhelming and downright scary to hear that a beloved pet or the sweet stray you're trying to help is "sick", but with strong knowledge and a good support system everything can be much less scary and totally doable!
We can talk via Simbi messaging. You can start by telling me your individual situation and any questions you have. I will make sure you have the right information and hopefully when we're done you will feel empowered and hopeful!
Training & Qualifications
I am NOT a vet nor have I had any formal veterinary training. Talking to me certainly can not replace the wisdom of a vet.
However, there are actually an alarming number of vets out there who are not properly educated particularly on the topic of FIV and FeLV. There is a lot of out of date and misunderstood information out there regarding these viruses.
I volunteered at a cat-only no-kill no-cage shelter for over 3 years that specializes exclusively in cats that have either FIV or FeLV (or both). I have 3 cats. One is condition-free, one has FIV, and one has both FeLV and diabetes. I have done a lot of research and been surrounded by people with many years of experience dealing with these conditions. I have a close relationship with my vet, who founded the cat shelter.
Availability & Preferences
I'm usually free nights and weekends.
About Christina Noe
Hi! I'm Christina. I've lived my whole life in Michigan, USA. I'm married, no children yet. I'm almost 30 and have a good job, but it definitely doesn't fulfill my creative side. I love interior desig...n and finding inspiration in art, photography, music, and nature. I've always wanted to be a novelist but can't seem to find the patience to actually sit down and write a novel. But there are stories rolling around in my head for sure. I'm a deep thinker; I love spending time with existential, philosophical trains of thought. I'm extremely introverted but in the right scenario I love having meaningful conversations with people. I feel most alive spending time in nature, though that gets hard during the winter here. I dream of one day having a sprawling veggie and flower garden. I often feel like my particular set of interests and personality traits just don't naturally lend themselves to any existing "traditional" job. Like I love interior design but I don't think I could ever be a designer because you have to be a people person and work with clients who might have different taste than you. That sounds like a nightmare to me, haha. I have a desire to put something artistic out into the world, but I have next to no natural talent with traditional art forms. So I hope I'll continue to grow and learn about myself and maybe find more and better ways to create beauty and add value for the world and my community.show moreOpen to other proposals
