I have been a stay-at-home mom for 10 years. I started in the business of medical transcription when I found out I was pregnant with my first daughter because I was scared to death to leave her in the care of anyone but myself. After completing a diploma in medical transcription, I started my job search to work from home. Unfortunately, every single business that dealt with medical transcription required that you have at least 2 years experience. I kept trying, kept applying, and every time I would get the same response, "You need to have 2 years experience in a hospital or doctor's office setting." Then, I had called nearly 100 doctors' offices and hospitals only to hear the same response, "Have you worked in transcription before? We need at least a year's experience." I was at the end of my rope. How was I supposed to gain experience when no one will give me a chance?
Finally, I was informed about general transcription when I was rejected again from yet another medical transcription company. I started researching, and found that there were hundreds and hundreds of transcription companies out there transcribing more than just medical notes. The subjects vary from academic, business, religious, legal, law enforcement, media, technological, research, and "other" medical. Even these subjects do not begin to scratch the surface of the amount of work that is available out there today.
My goal in life is to help as many people who are trying to make a living at home actually reach that goal. I would love to trade my knowledge!
