Piano Lessons

30

30 per session - - Posted Jun 02, 2018

I will teach 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons at least once a week on an ongoing basis ages 6 to 60+. I individualize my approach based on student's goal, and as a basis all students will learn the classics and take off from there, whether their goal is to learn as a hobby or to pursue a professional artist designation. I'm a member of the National American College of Musicians.

Training & Qualifications

BS in education. Studied piano for 10 years. I have had my own piano studio for 23 years here in North Carolina and had the pleasure of working with hundreds of students over the years, some of which went on to major in piano performance. Music is my passion.

About Carol Garvin

I am a professional piano teacher, since 1995 in North Carolina. Check out my website: http://www.garvinmusic.webs.com/ I studied piano for 10 years with Julliard Graduates who taught privately. The...n, I received my B. S. degree from Villa Maria College in Erie, PA. I was a professional Elementary Education teacher and taught piano lessons privately most of my life. Music is my passion and I love passing on the legacy to my students who I hope will enjoy playing until they can't see, hear, or sit up anymore, basically all their lives. I don't ever intend to stop teaching, as I'm doing what I love so every day is a joy. Additional affiliations: I was a board member of the Chapel Hill Music Teachers Association for 16 years as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Newsletter, Publicity chair and participate every year in the annual Guild Auditions . Student perform 10 pieces which include improvisation, technical exercise using scales, arpeggios, chord cadences, ear training, transposition, and sight-reading . Some do a traditional classical program choosing pieces from the 4 big eras of music, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary Periods. Others can choose a hobby program, or a Jazz program. If one has a basis in the classics jazz and contemporary music is a breeze. Also there is a composer competition for those students who really want to express themselves in an individual way. There is no end to the benefits of learning to play music. I hope you will try it and learn to love it as much as I do. Thanks! show more
