I'm a software engineer and longtime resident of Arlington VA. When not coding, you can find me working elections at Walter Reed Community Center, weeding my garden in the 4 Mile Run Community Garden, or swapping books at one of the little free libraries. I also sew quilts and knit shawls and would love to share those skills and/or learn from other makers (post-pandemic, The Shop at Central Library provides free access to sewing machines etc and would be a great place for lessons). If anyone has exhibited at Artomatic, I'd love a mentoring session on the dos and don'ts for next time.

I'm also repairing an old log cabin and planning a permaculture orchard near Harpers Ferry, WV ("midpoint of the Appalachian Trail"). It seems like the values behind Simbi have a lot in common with backpacking... next year I'd love to swap (rustic!) cabin overnights and vegan meals for help building raised beds / spreading mulch / picking raspberries for jam. I also grew up riding horses and barn-sitting for my relatives, so I'd be happy to do any horse-related chores (considering taking an Equissage course, if anyone is looking for equine massage?)

As for tech work, I'd be happy to trade my skills if they're relevant, but I do super-geeky internet-backbone stuff, not like WordPress or SEO. Oh, I do have some experience with home automation (SmartThings, though mostly the pre-Samsung platform, these days I'm steady-state) and would be happy to help you design, install, troubleshoot, or write some custom code - just ask!
