With Seagate Management, I put my degree in business administration to good use working for this marketing firm in the areas of finance, accounting, marketing, and public relations.
To enhance my skills in development, I volunteered for 3 years with United States Peace Corps. While volunteering in the Dominican Republic, I lived in a rural marginalized community. I oversaw grassroots projects: an IT education program, an adult literacy program, a health campaign focusing on HIV/AIDs prevention, national conferences focused on the improvement of education, developed 15 projects for incoming volunteers, and trained 20 incoming volunteers in the areas of childhood literacy, cultural norms, and financing their grassroots programs.
After Peace Corps, I had the opportunity to work in Eastern Africa with the Foundation for the International Medical Relief of Children (fimrc.org) and relocated to Uganda. This position allowed me to further combine my business administration skills and passion for international development. There I managed a team of over 60 clinicians and health workers, analyzed and prepared budgets, reported to headquarters in the United States, and marketed health campaigns. I also provided leadership and support to incoming volunteers, and developed a training manual for incoming managers and interns to create better institutional memory within the organization.
