Dog Bite Prevention Education
25
Did you know that most dog bites come from the family dog? If not him, it's likely a dog your child knows, probably owned by a friend or neighbor. Bites don't come "out of the blue;" every dog gives warning signals. Educate yourself and your child on what to look for so you don't get bitten, and how to avoid or get out of dangerous situations. After all, there are two victims when there's a bite: your child, who will have physical and psychological trauma, and a beloved pet who will likely be euthanized.
I will provide a kid-friendly presentation on dog bite prevention and dog body language. Appropriate for kids 8+ but can be modified for younger groups, and is also chock full of new and helpful information for any adults interested in the welfare of both children and dogs. Much of this information applies to other household pets.

I have my Bachelor's degree in behavior analysis and many years animal training/behavior experience, in addition to many years working at an animal shelter. I am passionate about animal behavior and welfare and am always reading and educating myself on the latest research on training and behavior, body language/communication, animal welfare, and other similar topics. I'm also passionate about child-pet interactions and safety, especially bite prevention and education for kids and adults.
