Japanese Greetings and Cultural 101

15

15 per session - Virtual OK - Posted Dec 10, 2017

Learn basic Japanese greetings and key cultural dos and don'ts. Session is priced for about 30 minutes, but I am happy to negotiate for longer sessions or more sessions.

This is great for either people traveling to Japan, or people professionally interacting with Japanese clients/co-workers. If you let me know your purpose/goals, I can better tailor the session to your needs.

I studied Japanese in high school and college. I have also lived in Tokyo with a host family, and led U.S. high school students all around Japan. In addition, I taught English to Japanese business men. My Japanese is advanced with what I've been told is a good accent, but I am not fluent.

Examples of what could be included in your session:

Phrases:
-Hello
-Thank You
-Please
-I'll have the [tuna sushi roll] please

Culture:
-How to politely receive a business card
-How to politely eat with chopsticks
-Japanese relationship with time
-How to pay in a Japanese restaurant
-How to bow / Should I bow?

Training & Qualifications

I have lived in Tokyo, and studied college level Japanese into the 300s.
