Arrange a safe meeting place -either private or public- that is conducive to opening up
Listen attentively, without any judgement or agenda
Ask guiding questions, if you feel it helps to draw out thoughts/feelings
Offer feedback at the end, if requested

Training & Qualifications
I have years of experience in listening to friends, family, and even people whom I've never met before. Often, complete strangers begin sharing, seeming to recognize the open channel; that I care about the thoughts and feelings of others.
