At a very young age I was always fascinated with natural remedies. Things like a mud & herb poultice on ant bites, fresh picked mint in warm water to sooth a belly ache, or walking barefoot on rocks to stimulate healing, immediately made me feel better. As I got older and experienced severe allergies and digestive issues, I found that I didn’t get relief from the doctors prescriptions. As a teen, I sought out a job at a health food store and after changing my diet and utilizing natural remedies, I was amazed at the improvements in my health, energy, and vitality!
My original goal was to heal myself but the more I learned about how food can be our medicine, I wanted to help my friends and family with their health issues as well. I devoured books on the subject and decided to seek out more education about wellness.
My experience as a certified nurse’s assistant with Kaiser inspired me take a different path and work in preventative medicine in order to help people stay healthy and prevent illness. I continued to work in health food stores and fitness clubs in order to add to my knowledge and experience. After more than twenty years in this field, my background includes advising professional athletes, public education, and supporting both naturopathic and medical doctors as a nutritional supplement consultant.
Throughout my life several of my loved ones have been unwell or clinically obese. My goal was to inspire them and help them learn how to take care of themselves. While gathering as much knowledge as I could to help them, my passion eventually turned into a lifestyle, and then eventually into my profession as a personal trainer and wellness coach. I was certified by the American Council on Exercise, I studied with International Sports Science Association, and I hold a certification with Precision Nutrition as a sports and exercise nutrition coach. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Kinesiology with a focus on exercise science, wellness, & nutrition.
