Intersectional Feminist Analysis
If something seems wrong but you can't put your finger on it, I can help you articulate that intuition. Race, class, ability, and a hundred other system of privilege and oppression affect each and every cultural interaction, from commercials to foreign policy. If you're creating, analyzing, responding, or just considering, I can give you some critiques to create a more inclusive project, appeal to a broader audience, or otherwise avoid the sorts of unconscious biases that we sometimes perpetuate despite our best intentions.
Training & Qualifications
A PhD in literature and film, with a focus on Multi-ethnic US and Postcolonial creators and audiences. I trained in Gender and Sexuality Studies, including teaching LGBTQ courses; Rhetoric (how we define community, create bonds and shared values); and transnational American Studies (US history and American identity as a part of larger international developments, plus the weirdly specific way of organizing people and power that is a "nation"). I am also a first-generation college student who has spend much of the past decade learning to articulate the class-based discomfort that I experienced in attending grad school and then choosing to leave academics behind.
Availability & Preferences
Via email is easiest, but if you're local, I can often meet in late afternoons or Thursday thru Saturday.
